A court in Nairobi has mandated that Elius Kemboi Korir, a former head of a non-governmental organization facing charges related to a Sh 17 million fraud case, must appear in person for the upcoming hearing.

During a recent session presided over by Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi, it was noted that Korir was absent from the proceedings. Consequently, the magistrate scheduled his appearance for September 14, 2025, to ensure his participation in the legal process.

The charges against Korir stem from incidents that occurred between August 2022 and September 12, 2022, in the Nairobi area, where he allegedly conspired with others to defraud Kandunyi Investments Limited.

It is claimed that he obtained various shop goods valued at Sh 17,110,000 by deceitfully asserting that he was capable of making payments to the company, fully aware that this representation was false.

In addition to the primary charge of fraud, Korir faces an alternative accusation of theft, which alleges that he, along with unidentified accomplices, unlawfully took assorted goods belonging to Kandunyi Investments during the same timeframe.

The legal proceedings surrounding this case are set to continue on September 17, 2025, as the court seeks to address the serious allegations against Korir.

The outcome of this case could have significant implications not only for the accused but also for the integrity of non-governmental organizations operating within the region.

As the hearing date approaches, the court will be tasked with examining the evidence presented and determining the appropriate course of action in light of the charges brought against him.
